Hobbit Day

It's Hobbit Day, 2014! That is, Bilbo and Frodo's shared birthday. Celebrate by reading a Hello Giggles article about it, watching the movies, or reading the books again! Because you've obviously read the books at least once already, right?

So happy birthday, Bagginses! See you again next year.

  1. I've read THE Hobbit, but I have not read LOTR. I read (struggled through) half of the first book, then lost it for a month or so. When I finally found it I couldn't remember enough to continue, and couldn't stand the thought of starting over. So I gave up. I've never really had a desire to try again. Too many other books in the world.

    1. I actually had a lot more trouble getting through The Hobbit than I did LOTR. Probably because I tried much younger, but I started it about 3 separate times before I finally made it through. I have read LOTR once, and probably won't again. I love re-reading books, but Tolkien's writing style is rough.

    2. Yeah, I can admire the effort that goes into creating entirely fictitious worlds/languages, but it makes reading the stories more challenging. I don't want to distract myself from the main plot by trying to keep track of nonsense words, names, locations. #lazy

    3. I do a weird thing, especially if it's a long series, where I start using the fictional swears.
