Beach Day

Sorry guys. It's been a weird day so this is going up much later than I intended. Yesterday, Fiance and I went to the beach!

The beach?

You might ask, since I live in Nashville and there really isn't any ocean close enough for a day trip. Correct. As the pictures give away, we went to a lake beach, because what middle Tennessee lacks in ocean, it makes up for in lakes. Seriously, there are a shit-ton of lakes here. And it still counts as a beach because the particular spot we went to brings in sand for that real beach feel.

Fiance always takes pictures at the worst times and without warning me, so I always look ridiculous.
I was a little more prepared for this one because I just stood there in that pose for about 10 minutes until I figured he had to have acquired at least one good pic.
All kidding aside, it was super fun. I'd been feeling a little down since I've spent the whole summer doing nothing summer-y aside from that one week in Maine. And I didn't even have the excuse of starting a new job - cue depression! So I really wanted to do at least one more fun summer thing, and my favorite summer thing is swimming! Especially in natural bodies of water - the ocean does amazing things for my curly hair.

Neither of us is present here, just a shot of the beach area.
For extra fun, we stopped by a gas station on the way and got picnic supplies!
It rained that morning, so initially my hopes were crushed. But I was stubborn and insisted we go anyway, in case it cleared up. Apparently it was free weekend or something, because even though it was supposed to be $4 a car at the park we went to, no one ever asked us for money. And it was just far enough away from the house that the beach was beautiful, hot, and sunny! Definitely put a much needed Smile on my face.

Try this yourself! Investigate cheap, simple things to do for fun in your area. It's amazing how just getting out of the house can lift your mood. And if you live near where I do, definitely post your ideas so I can try them too!

    1. It's from Modcloth! I originally got it hoping it would cover my side/rib tattoos. It does not. Still love it, though!

    3. Yeah, I bought a tankini and just hope it doesn't flutter/float up and cause problems. I don't like being trapped in a one-piece. I get all panicky, and peeing suuuuucks.

    4. We weren't there long enough for me to have an issue with the bathroom, but that is why I too usually avoid the one-piece. It just happened to be the first thing I grabbed and I stuck with it because I'm embarrassed about my ever expanding, laziness induced tummy.
